This chapter takes place back where the book first started. George seizes he has to take matters into his own hands. George found lennie and held a gun up to him.Lennie brings up the dream but george didn't care cause there is no dream without lennie.
"Right in the back of the head," This is were the dog got shot in the head.

In the begining of this chapter we learn that the puppy Lennie was petting was dead because he was petting it for so long. Soon Curly's wife comes up and tries to start conversation. Lennie starts to talk to her about how he likes to pet and about his dream farm. Curly's wife allows Lennie to pet her hair and it didn't end well.... lets just say Curly's wife is now dead.
"George didn't answer, but he nodded slowly. His hat was so far down on his forehead that his eyes were covered." This was the realization that George had to kill Lennie We are introduced to the crooks in this chapter. The crook is the black man on the farm. Crooks gets very unhappy when lennie walks into his room, but he ends up staying anyway. They talked for a while. Lennie learns a lot, like how he is lonely and how he doesn't believe in their dream farm. Curly then shows up and it doesn't end well.
"I can get you strung up on a tree so easy it aint even funny." This quote is showing that blacks have no rights and they had no say in what was happening In the begging of this chapter we are introduced to whit. We also learn some more about what happened in weed, their old town. Later candy starts to agree to letting Carlson shoot the old mans dog. Then Lennie and George tell candy about their dream farm. As they were agreeing that candy can join their dream, curly shows up and fights lennie.
"I won't tell," This quote save Lennie and Georges jobs Starting off chapter one we meet the two main characters. George; short and smart. Lennie; tall and mentally disabled. This to men have been through a lot. They have been kicked of of various places looking for a job. Lennie loves to pet mice but if they bite him he kills them. They are on their way to another farm for new beginings and jobs.
"He walked heavily, dragging his feet a little, way a bear drags his paws. His arms did not swing at his sides, but hung loosely." This is describing the way lennie is walking on the trail. |
